About the Author

Timothy Paul Jones serves as the C. Edwin Gheens Professor of Christian Ministry and as associate vice president at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world. Before coming to Southern Seminary, Dr. Jones led churches in Missouri and Oklahoma as a pastor and an associate pastor. Dr. Jones has authored or coauthored more than a dozen books in the fields of family ministry and apologetics, including the CBA bestseller The Da Vinci Codebreaker. In 2007, Charles Colson listed him as one of "four names you need to know" when responding to the new atheists. Christian Retailing Magazine awarded Jones top honors in 2010 in the Christian education category for his book Christian History Made Easy. Jones has also received the Scholastic Recognition Award from the North American Professors of Christian Education for his research in faith development. The son of a rural pastor, Dr. Jones earned his bachelor of arts degree in biblical studies at Manhattan Christian College. He also holds the Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Philosophy degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught biblical languages at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and at Oklahoma Baptist University, as well as lecturing on the reliability of the New Testament Gospels at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) at forums sponsored by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Despite his academic background, Dr. Jones has shown a capacity to communicate to ordinary people in an appealing and accessible style. Great for new Christians, old Christians who want to know more about scripture and how to study it. Great to use to make bible studies, Sunday school, and more. What a blessing!

Good study book

This is a basic guide to the Bible with lots of neat features. It touches upon what each book in the Bible is about - who wrote it, when it was written, the overall message. It includes a timeline of major Bible events, and quite a few maps of the Holy Land at various times in history (interesting to see how things changed over time). It has comparisons and samples of various Bible translations - which was very useful in helping me choose which Bible to buy and which ones are not for me! It tells you where in the Bible you'll find help for some life issues, and it has a bit of guidance and encouragement for living as Christians.It's a somewhat small book, so it doesn't delve very deep into any one area, but it presents a medley of various interesting and important tidbits of information with lots of color. The pages are glossy but unfortunately too thick and stiff.This book is nice for older kids to adults, and would make a great gift for a later-in-life Baptism or Confirmation. It's for anyone who wants to get acquainted with the Bible.

This is an excellent, full color, book for anyone wanting to learn about the Bible. It provides an overview for each book in the bible, which are neatly laid out in small boxes with a brief "who, what, where, when, why" description, as well as a "key verse" for each book. It contains maps, tips on how to read and study the bible, and "go to" versus for when you need reassurance, etc. I am just beginning my journey with the Bible and I couldn't be happier with this book. I would recommend this for young teens and adults.

This book is awesome! Our Bible Study teacher recommended it along with a class, and I really have enjoyed reading it.

I expected this book to fill the gaps and give details beyond the Symbian/SDK documentation. This book does not do that at all. There is hardly anything in this book that you can't find else where. The book does not attempt to address "details" of a concept - it rather superficially "touches" a variety of subjects i.e. you can do this or that using Series 60 SDK, or here are the tyes of dialogs, queries etc. Although many of these discussions are accompanied by brief code snippets, those can also be found (in greater detail) in the Symbian/SDK documentation.It is not a reference book which I expected it to be - rather its a book that explains the Series 60 in some technical detail. It can be helpful to a beginner who is just trying to understand the Series 60 patform, but it fails to assist real developers with real programming issues. This book played minimal part in helping me write my first Series 60 application - I had to rely on the documentation.I'd give it 2.5 stars since its not completely worthless - but its not what it could/should be. Also you can tell that its been written by many different people as it lacks a consistent style, which I find irritating.

This is an interesting piece of literature as we see the differences of France and Guadeloupe. It makes us think that the country we live on is not always perfect but there are flaws in itself and the progression of finding the identity of who we are and what part we take. Hence the name, 'Crossing the Mangrove' which describes the difficulty of progression from Point A to Point B.Through different perspectives of characters, the audience has to create the conclusion of who the mysterious foreigner, Roger, is. This is the underlying theme and is what runs the plot - the differences of attitude.It's an OK read, not personally my top favourites however.

Didn’t like this book at first, however it is just the style. Further reading peaked my interest and as I read more of the book I grew to appreciate the writing as well as the story.

Here is an elegant writer in any language and about any place who relays stories about characters in rural Guadeloupe who collectively relate the mystique of the place, the mixture of cultural expectations, of extended family, of constant involvement in each other's lives, and of the power of story-telling. I enjoyed every page.

I had to read the French version for a French literature class and decided after I read the original French version that I would give the English version a try and it is amazing as well. The translation is very good and I would recommend either the French or the English version! Very interesting book.

I am a new fan of Condé because of this novel. I had to read this for my francophone class and fell in love with the stories. The way Condé wraps the ending perfectly is a testament of her artistic abilities. Amazing.

This book was easy to read and enjoyable tale. The reader will be able to relate a lot of this book with personal experiences and still be taken to a new place with a unique culture.

This book was ordered as part of a bundle of textbooks needed for the Spring 2013 semester. The books arrived within two days due to my Amazon Prime subscription, and were in brand new condition. I am very satisfied with my order and all of the products will be very useful in my classes this semester. I will continue to buy books from Amazon in the future!

I recently visited Cuba. I loved the people! The culture and attitude towards life is a joy to behold. Read this book with an open mind and an open heart.
