Out of 170 pages only 100 pages contain recipes. I really really question her cooking skills. She is a dietition but obviously not a cook. Let me give you an example. on Page 59 she gives a recipe for a Savory Potato Frittata with smoked trout. She talks about peeling and cutting potatoes and boiling them. She suggests cutting up asparagus and throwing them in the boiling water for 1 minute. She suggests cooking them until they are crisp tender. The minimum cooking time for this is 5-6 minutes not 1 minute. She then suggests rinsing the potatoes and slicing them thin and frying them. This is a recipe for disaster. The potatoes will either stick or tun into mush but you won't be able to brown them. Worse yet she suggests doing this with one tablespoon of olive oil. That is not early enough to coat the bottom of the pan and do frying. She then suggests adding milk to eggs. This is an old time habit brought from the Depression time to add volume to the eggs because people were so poor so they stretched thee eggs by adding milk. Adding milk to scrambled eggs does nothing to improve them but actually degrades the texture and the taste of the eggs. I dare you to try this at home and it will turn into an abomination. A much better way to cook the potatoes is to nuke them in the microwave until they are 3/4 of the way to a baked potatoe. Then remove them from the microwave and slice them with a serrated edge steak knife and put them into a heated skillet with oil coating the bottom of the pan and fry them for about 5 minutes on each side. They will be browned and crisp tender. She then suggests to use salad greens to finish.She also suggests going to the fishmonger for fresher fish and talks about using seafood stock but does not begin to teach her readers how to make rich stock which is the huge flavor profile for seafood dishes.So bottom line her recipes may be nutritional but she clearly does not understand cooking methods.It was also not edited by an editor who was an accomplished cook or she would have caught thesenumerous cooking errors.The reviewer is the author of the Kindle book entitled: Sex Education for AdultsSecrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever AFter Too
Not many recipes I liked the look of. They use canned salmon in a lot of recipes. I would prefer to use fresh. I made the crab cakes which my daughter liked but I wasn’t too impressed.
A lot of interesting recipes but some of the ingredients are hard for me to find. The meal plan and such inside are genius and I love the blank sheet so you can make your own.
The book has nice recipes however I mark it 3 stars due to lack of pictures. It only has a few pictures photos at the beginning of a chapter. I wish it had photos for each recipe that would be helpful.
Purchased as a gift, did realize it was not a hardcover book, but gift recipient really liked the recipes ...
