Mr. Ford writes with clarity, objectivity, and in an interesting, easily comprehended, style. The book itself is well made, legibly printed, and easy to read.
I am about half way through the book and I must say it’s been an interesting read. Ford describes each aspect of detailing very well while making you think about details.
Ed Ford has written the only comprehensive theory of architectural detailing. Let's just say THAT'S HUGE! Worth a look. He has five categories of details and a Unitarian-like world view that, I think, will stand the test of time. Any architecture student or academic will benefit greatly by reading this work. You may not agree with everything he says, but Ford has made a major contribution.
